Sewing Projects

Thanks to the cute fabric from Gracie Lou's quilt shop in Salem I have been sewing a lot recently and have made Cambria a dress and a skirt so far. Unfortunately both are a little big but I guess that just means she can wear them for a long time.

Next time she wears them I will take pictures with my camera and not my phone so they look better.

sock puppets and dishwashers

It's no secret that I spend waaaay too much money at Borders. This, however, was a great buy! I bought a sock puppet kit. So we made sock puppets the other day. It turns out the glue that was included isn't the best, so I ended up sewing/hot gluing the puppets.
When asked what we should make Cambria said a pig and a snake so that's what we made... more or less. I couldn't get a picture to do them justice because Cambria was too busy playing with them.

Unfortunately our dishwasher broke today...

Fortunately Skyler and Cambria fixed it!

I made this dress from a picture of a dress Sherrie made. It is made with 2 handkerchiefs and probably cost about 3 dollars total to make. I think it's cute and is big so it will probably fit her next year too.

something doesn't look quite right...

2 days ago, when the weather was really nice Cambria wore the newest skirt I have made (it only took me 2 hours to make). But she also got in her dresser and wanted to accessorize her outfit herself...

Cambria and Skyler always have daddy-daughter play time right before going to bed. The other day they spent the time creating play-doh masterpieces. Cambria loves play-doh and surprisingly doesn't eat it.

Anyway, I have been sewing a lot lately but I have been making spring clothes and it has been darn cold so Cambria hasn't been able to wear them much. So, we played dress up this morning and I snapped some pics.
This shirt was a pain to make but now that I know how to do it I will probably make a dress similar to this shirt but with different fabric. Cambria loves helping make the bed because she gets to jump on the bed a bunch first. She is trying to help out doing a lot of things now like clean, make dinner, getting herself dressed, and she helps me put my makeup on.

This skirt is a lot cuter in person. It is probably one of my favorite things I have made.


Here is the dress I made a while ago but she hasn't worn it because it is too big but with the sweater over the top it looks okay.


Now I need to to start making her Easter dress.

Everyone always said that Cambria takes after me, I now finally see the resemblance... This picture was not staged either. she did this all by herself.





This is her new Christmas skirt. It may look familiar because, well, it is the same pattern as the summer skirt I made for her and very similar to the dress I made for the fall. But I love the look and think she looks so cute.

Winter Festivities

We have been pretty busy lately. The day after Thanksgiving we went to Thanksgiving Point and saw the Christmas lights which I thought were kind of lame... and would not recommend going to, but their hot chocolate was good. We will probably be going to the Hogle Zoo to see those lights sometime so hopefully they will make up for it. But Cambria LOVED seeing the reindeer!

Skyler and I always go to the Festival of Trees but he is out of town so I went with my mom this year. Cambria did pretty well since she doesn't like sitting for more than a few minutes but she was fine if she had food. So I kept her belly full with caramel apples and a rice krispy treat.

I also made Cambria a dress (which I love) that cost less than 5 dollars to make! I have seen dresses like this before but just made it up as I went and I'm proud of it. Next time I will add more tule to the bottom though to make it more full.

2 seconds later she tipped this bear over and broke it. I should have known better than to put him on the floor.

Our tree may not last until Christmas because I am tired of keeping Cambria away from it and re-stringing the lights every day.
