Shamrock Half

A few weeks ago I set the goal of running this race. I wanted to do this one because it was right in my neighborhood so I knew the course well. Even though there were a lot of hills and the wind was pretty bad I had a good time and am really happy I did it. I was also happy that I had a lot of cheerleaders along the way!
I was 59/189 overall and fourth in my age group.

Cambria wore my medal all day.

Hotlanta

Skyler won a trip to Atlanta through Aflac which took place July 28-31. We were really busy the whole time but it was exciting to be wined and dined. We stayed in a really nice hotel and ate some really great food and the entertainment each night was filled with dancing and singing which was fun.

We were able to tour Aflac headquarters in Columbus and see the ducks in their advertisements, and a bunch of other things but I was mainly excited about the ducks, too bad they hid from us most the time.

We also went to Stone Mountain Park which is home of the 8th wonder of the world which is a Granite rock which is huge. To put it in perspective this carving is bigger than Mt. Rushmore. We took a tram to the top to walk around, walked around the plantations and old village, and rode a train around the rock.

Freedom Half Marathon

Yesterday was the day I reached a goal I set 4 months ago and all my training paid off and I ran the Freedom Half Marathon! Me and my brother Ben both ran it. I had a really good time doing it... but I can barely move today. But I still think I will want to do another one before the summer is over.
My time was 1:52 and I'm pretty pleased with that.

Homestead Golden

Saturday I ran the Homestead Golden 15k (9.3 miles) race in Midway. It was a lot more challenging than I thought it would be, since a good portion of the course was uphill, on a dirt/rock road. But it was still fun and good to accomplish a goal I set for myself.

This is all a part of my training to do a half marathon in July. About mile 8 I said there's no way I'm doing a half marathon but once I finished I changed my mind and decided I still want to.

Here's me and my 2nd place ribbon!

Races, turkeys, and pies. Oh my!

What were you doing Thanksgiving morning at 8:00am when it was 23 degrees outside? I was running the Turkey Trot in American Fork and it. was. cold.
But after the first mile I warmed up really fast and wished I could have taken off the jacket I was wearing. I set a new record for my 5k time at 24:23. So a whole minute faster than my last race time.
I finished second in my age group and as a result I won a pumpkin pie, which was delicious by the way.
This is just after I finished the race.

If you look real close you can see me on the last stretch of the race. (I'm the one wearing red pants.)
We had a niceThanksgiving dinner and had a lot of fun playing outside because the weather was nice and Cambria loves being outside.

Cambria and Skyler making Cambria's favorite face to make because she is always says "oooh" to everything.
I made a candied apple pumpkin cheesecake pie which I thought was delicious and it looked really pretty too.

5k fun

Since no one, other than my mom, joined me on the 5k Saturday I will rub it in how much fun it was! I ran 1:15 faster than I did the last one so I was pretty happy. My time was 25:25 and I got 3rd in my age division and I think I got 31st overall. I'm not sure on the exact place because the results have not been posted yet but hopefully tomorrow they will be. The best thing about running races is that you get a lot of freebies. I got a shirt, a water bottle, a "cancer sucks" pin, and loads of coupons for things. The next one I might do is October 24 and it is at night running through the American Fork cemetery which sounds cool so I think I will do it!

This isn't my favorite picture but oh well.
And a big congrats to my mom who also did the 5k with me!

I'm finally a trophy wife

I ran a 5k this last Saturday with my brother Ben and my mom did the mile. All the proceeds went to the Wasatch House which is a place that helps mentally ill people. The race started at Timpanogos Park and went to Canyon Glenn then turned around and went back. It was really fun especially since I took 1st place in my age division! (20-25 yrs.) And I finished 31st overall. Which was great because I was worried about not being able to run the whole way but I did and could have kept going. This keeps me motivated to keep running and hopefully do a 10k next year. We also got a jogging stroller so I can run better on my jogs with Cambria. Our old stroller was not working out for exercising.

We had a family reunion last week and even though we had a lot of fun I didn't take many pictures, but here is one of Cambria playing with the bubble machine she got for her birthday.

WE WON!

Yes, you heard correctly we finally won something! What did we win you ask? The lottery, a new car, a house? NO! Even better than all of that!

This afternoon I (skyler) had a sweet tooth, and luckily my wonderful wife had gone to the store yesterday and had purchased some fruit snacks (gushers). So I opened the box and grabbed a pouch. As I was about to close the box I noticed something stuck to the side of the box, so I reached in and pulled it out, and it was a credit card. I looked at the card and sure enough, we had won!

$5!!!!!

I thought I was dreaming and then we went to the website where we activated the card, and sure enough this little image assured me it was real!

So for all of you who said I would never win anything...TAKE THAT! When was the last time YOU won $5!?
